Attending the International Radiation Symposium 2024 (IRS2024) at Hangzhou (China)

Jaume Ruiz de Morales, PhD Student of the University of Girona involved in the NUBESOL-2 project has presented some results at the IRS 2024 (17 June – 21 June), a quadrennial congress that took place in Hangzhou, China.

The IRS2024 was organized by the Zhejiang University (ZJU), along with the International Radiation Commission (IRC) of the International Association of Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences (IAMAS). The meeting offered a multicultural ambience, where researchers from all over the world shared their latest findings on atmospheric radiation science.

Jaume Ruiz de Morales gave an oral presentation titled “Characterising the Cloud-Aerosol Transition Zone Using a CL31 Ceilometer” at session 5 (Ground-Based Measurements and Field Observations), and a poster presentation titled “Cloud-Aerosol Transition Zone from Calipso Measurements” at session 6 (Radiation Budget and Forcing). He received the “International Radiation Commission Poster Presentation Award”, which is given to three young researchers who gave excellent poster presentations as graduate students or within 10 years of obtaining their PhD.

Both contributions regarded the topic of the cloud-aerosol transition zone from an observational point of view, which is raising remarkable interest in the atmospheric science community for its key role in the radiative forcing.
